Certification Levels

An ITC Certification is written testimony of qualification. ITC Certifications are globally recognized and are designed to exceed the requirements of international certification standards. ITC students are trained to operate their infrared equipment, produce professional reports, and understand the techniques and limitations of infrared thermography for their application. PhD, ASNT Level III and EPRI Level III Instructors develop ITC courses.

The ITC Certification process requires students attend a training/certification course, pass closed-book examinations and quizzes, and submit a field assignment demonstrating understanding of their application and proper use of the infrared camera.

Re-certification every five years is required to demonstrate continuing education or professional contribution to the field. There are two ways of extending an ITC Thermography Certification for an additional five years:

  1. Attend an ITC Thermography Certification Class at the current certification level or upgrade to a higher level, or

  2. Show proof of continuous employment in thermography with efforts to continue thermographic knowledge and education by attending infrared industry conferences, attending infrared application courses, and/or presenting papers or publishing an article in a research journal or trade magazine. Unlike some infrared training programs, students are only required to visit our training facility once. Click here for the details.

NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA – ITC Course Certifications meet or exceed ASNT SNT-TC-1A guidelines. Level I and Level II training is accredited by NETA (International Electrical Testing Association, an accredited standards developer for the American National Standards Institute, ANSI). We are committed to making sure students know how to use their cameras before we certify them. In fact, the ITC has more ASNT Level III Thermal/Infrared Certified staff members than any other organization.

INTERNATIONAL – Our teaching staff has extensive experience in thermography, from product design through application development and active consulting practices. Level I and Level II CM Certification courses exceed Level I and Level II ASNT-SNT-TC-1A recommendations for Thermal/Infrared testing, as set forth by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing. Courses and instructors follow practice as set forth by EN473, a thermographic norm within the European Community.
